wow - how much interest so far? That's brilliant!!! I am so excited! (this is the first swap I've organised - I may be a bit rubbish at the organisational side of things....we'll see!). Just reminder to everyone, if you do sign up can you make sure I can contact you (email addy or link to blog etc). Or you can email me at katyejones@hotmail.com.
And just to answer a couple of Qs...international is (of course) fine, but if anyone does have an objection to mailing overseas just let me know and I can match you up with someone more local.
My new baby is amazing, she is totally amazing. I can't hear her when she sews, she is soooooooooo quiet. And the knee lift thingy - I don't know how I coped without it before! I can't wait to actually have something to sew, at the minute I am sewing hexagons together for a quilt for the ginger one, and also for a mini quilt swap on flickr (this month's flavour is English Paper Piecing, and I am a little hooked). I've got a bunch of hexagons to take in the car down to my mum and dad's today so I should have a photo of my progress when I get back.
I am stuck though...I can't choose a name for her. Help me out, and I'll send a little prezzie to the person who thinks up the best name (I say the BEST, what I really mean is the one I LIKE best... bearing in mind I am pestering W for a new -real life human -baby I can call Sheldon, my taste may be a little off the mark...)
Ok....that's it, I'm off.

Hi Katy, im so excited for your russian doll swap !! Glad you are enjoying your new "baby"
Enjoy it at your mums, loving the quilt. Will have to think of a name.
Sarah x
my suggestion for your new baby is the name Martha, a good strong sewing machine name, not that I have one or even know how to use one. do you give lessons? 101
it is a girl sewing machine right? that might change name wise.
excited about the swap, I have been sketching away in my note book this morning! have a good weekend.
Well my name for your new baby is "Bettina Bernina" - probably no good but I like it!!!!
I'm glad I signed up for the Russian Doll swap now, although I have been dreaming about what I'm going to make all night long. Those crafty dreams don't make for a restful night.
For your new baby (who is very nice and sparkly btw) I think you should go for
"Baboushka"
in honour of the Russian doll theme.
xMx
I think you should call her "susie" I don't know why really other than it sounds a bit like sews!!!
LOL! I think you should call her Nina :-)
hmm, Tina, Lina, Mena - all good names. I quite like Betty too.
Monda

oh, and what about Bertha?, no? nevermind then
okay names you should not be considering: sadie (because that should be for your vacuum cleaner... as in sadie the cleaning lady....); bob ( a) because all sewing machines are girls in my world and b)he's a builder); mary or lucy (because i associate those names with gardeners); vickie (because that is a husky name as in vickie the vicking)....
not helpful am i??? one was thinking viv (as in the westwood woman but she is more fashion and not whimsical mini quilts, cushions, bags or softies, is she)i will second nina as it is a very cool name in my world. ;D
I would just call her something way too obvious like Bernie, not very good at naming favourite objects. I have a very old bag (20 years) that I still use and it's called Hamble (yes I named a handbag!)so you see I have no imagination.
Names for a sewing machine - seems perfectly normal to me!
My suggestion would be Susie, but I like Babooshka as well
April xx
I am now becoming a swap-o-holic!
The machine looks ace! I wish you joy to use it!

Hiya
I have just come across your blog via sarah at pink petal designs and I just wanted to say WOW I love your dolls they are soooo cute I am just starting out but hopefully some day I will be able to create things as nice as yours.
I'd probably call her Ethel, but then I call most things Ethel. Or Fred.
Neither of which are much help!
I have a name that im going to email you !! Oh and can i please join in your swap hun ??
Sara x
I think perhaps Beryl. x
Let's see...I think a good name would be LuLu for no other reason than I think it would be fun to call it "my little LuLu" Now I'm sounding crazy...
ok I thought I had signed up for the Russian dolls swap but cant find my post!! mind you it was 630am so perhaphs I just dreamed that I had:)) anyway please sign me up as I have already worked out what I want to do ( it was boring at work today!) a name for your new baby ummm Bella
Claire
quiltygal@hotmail.com
ohhh duhhhh couldn't find it 'cos it was the posting before:((( told you it was early this morning
(slinks off to cook tea feeling slightly stupid)
Claire ( think thats my name not quite sure now!!)
As your Bernina is Swiss and I am in Germany, I have come with a Germanic name for her-
"Wilhelmina Von Bernina"...or is that too severe? What about Doris? ...an anagram of Bernina would be Annie B (with an R left over) but we can't have two Annie Bs, can we?
how about mArInA ?!
i'm very excited about the russian doll swap too!
sylvia
and i seem to want to name everything Hazel, but never have
How about Sheila? It sounds a bit like russian шила [shila], which is past tense of the verb шить (to sew)
I just found your blog..love it..and that took me to Overmilkwood..love that.I Name that machine 'Mother Brown.'('Knees up' etc)
I like old school names.... my favorite for your machine:
Eloise
Love it! Good Luck everyone!
ethel or beryl I like...but am trying hard to think of something to go with sheldon...hmm...how about sibyl? sibyl'n'sheldon ...well I think it has a certain ring...
Sorry just had to have another go after my 'Knees up' comment. I was musing over who might have a knees up? Dot Cotton would. I name your machine 'Dot Cotton'
I am sooooo impressed by Fioleta - not only able to read and conjugate Russian but TYPE it as well. I feel quite humbled and do you know - quite liking Sheldon
I've just read about the swap. Looking forward to see your swap stuff.
I just love these Russian Doll that everyone is making. Don't know if you can help me but I live in the US and can not find a pattern or any of the cute fabric that I see everyone uses that has the Russian Doll Print. Do you have any suggustions.
Thanks
