de-stashing

My fabric cupboard is a mess. I really need to get some stuff cleared OUT so I can get IN. Is anyone else this way on a holiday weekend?

First to get the clear out treatment are my scraps. The bin of scraps has been living in the dining room for a while, since it got too full to put away. I've been ruthless, and this is what can go.

Any takers? Free to good homes...or homes that need filling with more stuff, anyway....

There are 3 lots.

First up is an ikea bag about half full of bits varying in size, but all very useful - nothing tiny. I can only post it to the UK, because it weighs a flipping ton.

Some batting scraps. Mostly pretty small/thin - like coaster width. Perfect for practise quilting or for making something small.

and some tiny bits. Perfect for little patchwork - some bits are teeny, there are strips, squares and little bits in here. Quite few Japanese ones, all very nice.

Shoot me an email or leave me a comment here, and I'll do a number in the hat thing if there are plenty of people interested after the weekend. I can mail the batting or the tiny bits overseas, but the big bag can only go to the uk. So let me know what you like the look of and we can go from there. Let me fill your house with stuff you don't need, and stop my husband looking at me like I am dirt.

I would love the 3rd bag, the one with wee bits and Japanese scraps. I live in the United States in Virginia. Thank you - this is great that you're sharing!

ooo... I like the "tiny bits" if no one else wants them. And I can help pay for shipping here to the US if that sweetens the deal ;)

I'm in Somerset and would love to give a home to the first bigger bag of fabric - I'll happily send you something in return if you like. I'm currently working on a scrap jewel box quilt so some new to me fabrics would certainly breathe some new life into the fabric selection in this quilt

That sounds like my workshed at the moment! I've got some pieces of jewellery to finish filing and sanding, but I can't get near my desk! Having a lunch break before going out there to tackle it.

Hey there monkey gal, that bag of wee scraps looks mighty tempting, but looks like you have plenty of takers.
Love your new header!
Have you had a chance to devour the mags? Anything scream at you to be created?
Have a great long weekend, hope you find some time to create. :-)

The first or the third bag would be a dream come true for me. I've just discovered the art of using yoyos and I'm fabric mad now making them using the clover yoyo tools. This is a very generous and kind offer. I'd be happy to cover postage. Cheerio, woollywotnots

I'm sure my husband would say I should be getting rid of my own fabric rather than acquiring more - but I never did have any control when it comes to fabric! I'd love to take the first or 3rd bag off your hands!

This is so kind of you! I love the way that scraps can always find a home somewhere else and be given a new lease of life. Well I would be interested in the second bag. I really fancy a go making a rag quilt for a little girls birthday present and guess what I need for it? Lots of small pieces of batting! I am in the UK and would be happy to pay p&p if you want! Thanks for a lovely blog

i would love the tiny scraps. i was thinking of doing a scrapy quilt but since I JUST started stashing last December and most of my quilts are from layer cakes or FQ bundles, it will take years to build up scraps. Thank you for the offer and even willing to send overseas.

I would love anything that would be suitable for me to start patchwork. I have the sewing machine (have had it since Last year) I even bought loads of squares to get started from ebay.. Went to do it a few weeks ago and my Other Half had chucked them out several weeks earlier.. thought they were scrap!!!! So please put my number in the hat for anything you think might so the job.
Am loving your new header too x

If no one has already asked I would love the batting, I am attempting to do-up an old quilt for my niece/nephew, that their mum had as a child. (Don't really know what I'm doing tho) :)

As a begginer I haven't many scraps and there are so many projects where I can use them! As I'm from Portugal, I can only run for nr.3! (Or nr.1, I can pay posting expenses...)
Thanks for sharing!

Pick me - I'll be happy with anything as I'm still dreaming of learning to make quilts and definitely need to practice on something small before making a proper quilt.

Oh polka dot goodness...
Oh Japanese cuteness...
Oh any little snippet you'd care to send my way...
I have been stitching which means I have been reducing my stash so I'm allowed to play.

Ooooh, I'm trying to build a stash to fuel my new-found quilting love and I'd love any contributions. I live in Singapore, but my MIL is coming to visit from the UK soon and I'm sure she wouldn't mind being my pack-horse! x

oh poor you! having to get rid of your scraps :(
I would love to help you out but unfortunately my husband thinks we need somewhere to keep the baby so I'll be having a similar destash some time soon! ;)

How tempting is that??? but....i need more fabric like i need a hole in the head. Trying to de-stash myself but sewing room is almost at the point that i can hardly get through the door it's that much of a mess!
The plan was to sort it this weekend but we're already on Sunday so i doubt it's gonna happen. I suspect it'll happen in the 1/2 hour before you come to visit. I'll just stuff it in drawers or cupboards so that i don't look like the complete slob that i am :-)

Leah said...

I know I'm moving and should be packing my bits and pieces away, but I'm sure that I can find room for the big bag of bits!!

The one problem of not having a "stash" is never having scraps.

comfortstitching said...

Gosh you are serious about clearing out!!! I'm always ready to house ever more fabric in my home, just don't tell the hubby!
Either 1 or 3 would make my day!

How thoughtful of you to offer this! I'm in the US, so I'm interested in the tiny bits bag!
Thanks!
