giveaway winners

It's all about the low numbers this week according to Mr Random.Org

The winner of the art gallery bundle of fabrics is Doris in Des Moines (which I have to say in a weird voice, anyone else have to say Des Moines in a weird overly American accent? Try it - it's fun. Or at least it is when you haven't really left the house in a while and you haven't slept much recently.) Des Moines - that's Iowa, right? Is that the mid west? My geography is shocking.

And lucky number 7 is Nicolette in Holland (or is it the Netherlands? Which is the correct term these days and what is the difference?) Nicolette wins the bundle of rainbow fabrics from Alice at Backstitch (incidentally -there's a flash sale on Quilt Blocks by Ellen Luckett Baker at Backstitch at the minute, it won't last long and there's 15% off Ellen's gorgeous line. I love this line. Love it so much).

I've never been to Holland, which is a travesty really, as it's only a skip and a jump across the water and  I know I'd love it. I'll put it on my list of places to visit or else.

Doris and Nicolette - shoot me an email at katyejones at hotmail dot com and I'll get those bundles out to you.

The sew ichigo giveaway is still going on - last day today, hurry hurry!

OMG... I won fabrics! Thanks, thanks, thanks! I’ll shoot you an email.
Officially my country is called The Netherlands (We say Nederland), the more ordinary name is Holland, but I love the French name, Pays Bas (low lands) which would be the best to describe us living below sealevel!
And... I’ve never been to the UK, it’s only one boat-trip or train ride away, so sad really!
Thanks again Katy for your give-away!!!

Congrats to the winners. I should add to Nicole's comment: Holland is derived from two of our provinces or counties Noord (north) Holland and Zuid (south) Holland. That's why the other provinces can get a bit miffed by it. Not often long as you know where it is. You should definitely visit!

Congratulations to both on your wins! Nicolette is spot on about the name of the country. In fact 'pays bas' is the exact translation of the dutch 'neder land' (the land which is low). So called (as Nicolette rightly said) because a lot of it is below sealevel. That's also why they need so many dykes! However, the official name of 'The Netherlands' was a bit of a mouth full for the tourist industry so especially with that in mind, the name Holland was born. So even though it's official The Netherlands (Nederland), Holland is now a well established name. There are provinces called North Holland and South Holland. In other words, don't worry about it, you can't go wrong!!
